Dr Dai Ni Ong is an ophthalmologist with a special interest in cataract surgery and the management of macular degeneration. She offers medical consultation and surgery for a wide range of general ophthalmic conditions.
Cataract surgery is about improving your vision as well as making choices to suit your lifestyle. She will guide you through the choices of the latest interocular lens available to correct for astigmatism and presbyopia. She operates in surgery centres with the latest equipment and caring staff. Dr Ong regularly attends international conferences in America and Europe to keep up to date with the latest innovations in cataract surgery.
Dr Ong is also a retinal specialist who holds consultant positions in the medical retina and uveitis clinics in the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital. She has performed over a thousand of anti-VEGF injections for macular degeneration and other retinal diseases. She has helped many patients to improve and maintain their vision.
Dr Ong graduated with honours from Monash University Medical School, Melbourne. She then worked at The Austin Hospital, Melbourne where she received "The Best Hospital Medical Officer Teacher Award".
After completing her ophthalmology training at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne, she moved to the UK for further training in medical retina and uveitis conditions at the prestigious Moorfields Hospital, London. She undertook further training in glaucoma and oculoplastics at The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. Other fellowship training included cataract surgery at The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, Melbourne. She is a member of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists.
Dr Ong describes herself as approachable and ethical. She always has her patients' best interests in mind. She says, "It brings me joy to see my patients' eyesight improve, so they can enjoy doing the things that are important to them."
